Our Instrumental Ensembles
-
Here at Platt there is only one band. All students with prior experience on a band instrument are welcome to join this class. No auditions are required. This group meets daily during the school year for course credit. Concert Band and Marching Band work together as one group. All students are enrolled in both ensembles.

The Jazz Ensemble is the premier instrumental performing ensemble of the Instrumental Music Department. As an audition-based group, this ensemble strives to perform challenging jazz literature each year and compete in several high school festivals and competitions each year. This class meets daily as well as night rehearsals

Platt has two Orchestral ensembles for students who play violin, viola, cello, or double bass. Orchestra Academic is our primary orchestra for students who wish to continue playing their instrument in high school, or who want to try playing a new instrument for the first time. Orchestra Accelerated is our advanced ensemble for students who want a more rigorous orchestral experience. Both groups meet daily as courses for credit during the school year. These orchestras perform at Platt Music Department concerts and events and frequently collaborate - with each other, and district-wide.
